A mute girl, Njoki, finds her voice after political violence leads to the death of her brilliant twin sister, Njeri.

When a bomb causes the death of his mother, Abdallah finds himself swept away from Kano into the life of his uncle, an Ibadan-based motorbike rider and armed robber. Things start off well and he is able to take care of his siblings back home, his mother's dying charge. Until ethnic tensions, long simmering, rise to the surface on a random afternoon.

A new widow goes to retrieve her husband's belongings from the bus station. Her husband, travelling back home en route leaving the country, has been killed in a crossfire between state forces and bandits. This film explores the human cost of insecurity through her inability to tell their child where her father has travelled to.
